PlayStation programmers responsible for creating this coming Friday’s new PlayStation game ‘The Last of Us’, have created a chilling series of 8 CGI images depicting what Britain might look like in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event, such as a modern plague pandemic or devastating civil war.

The 8 iconic British monuments are Buckingham Palace, Battersea Power Station, Brighton Pier, King’s College Chapel, Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, Liverpool’s Albert Docks, Glasgow’s Clyde Bridge and the Angel of the North.
As depicted Buckingham Palace is shown as a gutted, crumbling ruin surrounded by what could pass for a skip site and fortified with a vast array of sand bags. The roof of the palace is shown as fortified with extensive razor wire emplacements and mounted with satellite dishes and a large communications mast, indicative of a war zone.
Brighton Pier is represented as a crumbling wreck, half-fallen into the sea and surrounded by overgrown vegetation whereas the depiction of King’s College Chapel might as well pass for one of Henry VIII’s ruined monasteries, only with burnt-out rusty car hulks scattered in the foreground.
In the wake of last month’s virtual beheading of British soldier Lee Rigby by Islamic extremists in Woolwich and the increasingly assertive presence of Islam in country, many commentators have speculated that the images bode as an ominous sign of events to come.
The eerie images come ahead of the (UK) release of the much anticipated PlayStation game ‘The Last of Us’ this Friday, which has a storyline set in America in a World struck down by the apocalyptic Cordyceps virus.
The game follows a survivor named Joel in his attempts to escape a military quarantine zone, with a 14-year-old girl named Ellie.
The game which was developed by ‘Naughty Dog’ game developers will be released in the UK this Friday.
