Lakers is once again on the move. After winning against Utah Jazz on Friday, they once again showed their might in court when they trounced Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday afternoon at the Staples Center with 105-96 score.
It was a huge victory for Lakers after losing against OKC Thunder with 15 points on January 11.
Kobe Bryant thrilled everyone with his 14 wonderful assists, 9 rebounds and 21 points. Thanks to Bryant’s excellent playmaking, Steve Nash was also able to contribute 17 points and Pau Gasol pulled off 16 points. There is also Metta World Peace who greatly contributed to the team’s winning with his outstanding triples.
During the first quarter, Lakers came in strong and ended the period with 27-23 lead. However, they performed poorly during the second quarter and Thunder was able to beat them with a 53-52 lead.
Throughout the third quarter, both teams struggled to outdo each other but luck was on Lakers side when Gasol nailed a jumper five minutes before the quarter ended.
Lakers started the last quarter with a bang with Metta World Peace and Jodie Meeks’ quick threes. They ended the game with a beautiful pass from Kobe to Earl Clark for the dunk and a huge clutch bucket from Gasol.
During an interview Bryant said: “We’re doing a good job right now of just being real with each other and holding each other accountable,” and added, “That makes a huge difference. I’m trying to evolve and find out what we need as a ballclub.”
Gasol who played 36 minutes also commented that they finally found a game play that works and that with the way they are playing now, they can be successful.
On Thunder’s side, Kevin Durant contributed 35 points and Russell Westbrook made 17 points, 13 assists and 9 rebounds.
